Note: I found a persimmon that I can't tell the variety on. The fruit you see is about an inch and a half my area is zone 8-9 Texas

Check out this website that will help you identify the fruit based on the color, size and whether the fruit have seeds or not, and then tell us if anything matches up:

Dear visitors and members. I started I Heart Gardening several years ago to share and learn from gardeners around the world. It has been a fun and enlightening experience and I am humbled by the knowledge that you, the readers and participants have shared with me. Now, I find myself spending more time gardening outside than on the web site and feel the need to close this chapter in my life. So I plan to close I Heart Gardening in February, although I will keep the name and perhaps someday may return with a new site. Thank you for sharing and giving to the site. Best wishes and happy gardening! Patrick

Thank you guys, That was helpful. I keep trying ti find the native Texas Black, but never can. I, too, will miss this site/app. I hope you have had someone offer to cover it for you? The same thing has happened to one of my favorite lit download sites, the Soil and Health free biblo-site

Sorry to hear this site will be closing. It has been a fantastic resource for many of us. Does anyone know of another site similar to this one? Good luck!

Forage Ahead is a yahoo group that focuses on wild plants but they're good about anything you offer up even if it is not very wild 'round here

This website has been swell. I think all of us put together make a pretty smart group of gardeners. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this project, Patrick. It must have been a tough balance with gardening outside and running a website inside. I think you are choosing the better and more gratifying hobby in the end.
