  • "Quiet in the Desert!"

    Hello again everyone!

In response to the comment on my 1st posting here, I must agree that indeed, the Sonoran Desert CAN be one of the quietest places left on this planet. As my wife Donna and I live only a few miles away from Davis monthan AirForce Base, and RIGHT NEXT to the Tucson International Airport, the desert HERE is not the quietest place I'VE ever been! LOL! I'm not exactly sure WHY the Fighter Wing HAS to be at the Tucson Airport, unless it is to make SURE that this part of the desert remains QUITE Un-quiet! Those A-10's takin' off in tandem can wreak havoc on an otherwise still morning!

Also: THANK you to ALL that were able to indentify the "Moss Rose" that my wifley-wonderful posted here a while back! They sure don't seem to mind the constantly moist soil conditions they are subject to....They've been blooming ever since we brought them home here, and I must have an estimated BAZILLION seeds from them already. I've got a small pill bottle halfway filled with those tiny "Bronze/Black" colored seeds that we plan to get going IF we are EVER able to move out of my brother-in-law's living room....I HATE working only 2 hours per week......Every time I think I'm about to get something better, the place that I'm employed by now wil call and ask me to "be in, in the morning"....LOL! If i COULD, I'd quit this to devote time to the job search...

    LOL!

    Until NEXT time then!....

  • We Just Moved To Tucson, AZ!

    Hello Everyone! Big Smile

Recently my wife Donna and I moved to Tucson Arizona from near Battle Creek Michigan. I have to say I sure do love it out here!

Way back in the early 80's I was stationed out in the Mojave desert, and by comparison, this Sonoran desert is like the Garden of Eden! I can not get my head around just how moist it is out here. Rain Rain Rain!!! I do realize that it is the "monsoon" season out here, but MAN! I suppose that I ought to introduce myself before I get "rambly" on ya!

My name is Dave, and my wife Donna is donnanellah. We've been married since March of '98, but together from way, WAY before that. I found this site while searching the Microsoft site for fun sidebar gadgets, and stumbled upon the one featured at this site. I showed the site to my "POOKY" and she signed up straight away, while I delayed for about 24 hours before taking the plunge. The main thing that caught our attention was the "What kinda flower is THIS?" photo section here, to which Donna has already sent a couple of pictures.

We bought these plants at the Tanque Verde Swap Meet on Palos Verde Rd here in Tucson, and have been UTTERLY unable to find any reference to these li'l buggers at ALL, even in the landscaping giudes that are issued locally here by the water department. I hope that when the Forum Moderator finally allows them to go up, that SOMEONE will be able to figure out just what these things are. They sure are pretty!!!

Enough from me for now, cuz i gotta spend some time cruising thru all the neat stuff this garden site has to offer!!
