Creating pathways in my garden

No this isn't really about my chicken legs! Living down in a very warm climate takes some special consideration when it comes to gardening. I suppose it does anywhere. Zones are important anywhere, but here the heat is the primary concern. So my style of gardening is changing from formal English cottage to a full embrace of prarieland and southwest gardening. We can still be lush, but it's just different.

But this post is about the style of pathways that we'll be constructing for our future garden. I really like the cut limestone blocks for edging, and the crushed granite gravel. So this is just a little reminder photo.

And here's a sample of the style I'd like to achieve. Maybe I'll be a bit more formal that this though. While I was at the garden center yesterday taking these photos, someone gave me an excellent tip for procuring limestone rocks for use in the garden. One of the local cemetaries gives it away for free because they dig it up every time they dig a new grave.  Free stuff yay!

About me

I'm a creative weirdo living in Austin Texas with my wife. We're both from Texas and just returned to live in Austin after an 11 year adventure in Seattle Washington. We left a few wonderful friends there and miss them a ton. I like to work with plants and curious, fun people and I like to create peaceful garden spaces to escape to. I also like to play and learn music. Currently I'm learning to play guitar. My latest gardening interest is Tropical Rhododendrons. I think they're fascinating and beautiful. If you know anything about them, send me message and say hello!
