    Spring has Sprung

    Hi all,

I live in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. It has taken forever for some warm weather to arrive. I don't imagine I am like most gardeners. I do some clean up in the fall but I leave a lot of stuff in my garden through the winter so that hopefully lots of minerals and goodies get soaked into the soil. I have just cleaned it out and put in some new top soil. I have planted my pansies which are nice and hardy. A couple of years ago I had bought what was supposed to be a blue poppy but someone was nice enough to switch the tags. It ended up being red. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful flower. This year I'm trying my luck again. I planted it right beside my red one, so hopefully they'll look sharp together. It's not completely hardy enough yet, but it can't be taken in at night without a real shock to it's system, so I went ahead and planted it and I just make sure I cover it at night. With no forecast for frost it should be ready to be on it's own in a week. Wish me luck and if all turns out well I will post a photo for all to see. I also have another really cool plant I can't wait to post. I'm pretty sure it's a bulb even though I never planted it. I think the squirrels were nice enough to do that for me. lol. It's leaves are a real dark purple when it first comes up but by the time it blooms the leaves are green and it has little blue/purple flowers. I will take a picture during both stages and then stitch them together so you can see what i mean.

Anyways, happy gardening to all and hope to hear from some of you

    Sherryl
