Well I read about this and the bill is to be introduced during the next session which begins in the Fall. It is of course absurd to control plants like these and is a great example of the nannystate in which we live. Foolish kids will always do this kind of stuff. I'm quite frankly surprised that my fave plants Brugmansia are not on the government list (probably because they are so toxic that even kids avoid them)
I for one think that what may happen is that the plant might be sold like spray paint is now, to adults with ID. But legislation like this sometimes is slipped through under the radar and becomes permanent. Just like the absurd drug war it would sadly be forever.
That being said, few people would be able to recognize Salvia unless they are gardeners and we will continue to grow it in our gardens I'm sure.
