    Staghorn Fern

I am looking for information regarding the proper feeding and dividing of staghorn ferns. Any information would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Re: Staghorn Fern

These such nice plants. I only ever see them in the garden center (no one I know keeps them). But from what I understand they are Epiphytes which grow on other trees like Cypress. They don't need soil but do well in peat moss baskets.

The only kind of problem people encounter is when they let them stay too wet and they get black spot which can kill the whole plant. I suppose that in a warm climate with hot summers, it's unlikely that mold is a problem.

Do you have a Staghorn already? I would love to see what you have.

I grow a lot of staghorns. I feed mine ripened banana skins and teabags. Place them on the top of the stag behind old foliage and water in. To propagate: gently peel of a new pup with a fine blade but not to sharp of your existing stag. Place on a peice of wood or tree with sphagnum moss behind it and tie on with an old stocking. Don't let it dry out until it is established. Hope this helps.
