 Gardening Question
Can I get seeds off of my cut flowers? I was given about 3 dozen cut gerber daisies and as a friend and I said how much we loved them and how I had them in the house all the time as a child, he said just let them dry up and save the seeds. I thought a flower had to dry on the plant in order to make seeds. I'm not the plant person in my family.

Hi Ms. Fire and welcome! Your beautiful cut flowers will not produce any seeds because they were cut. Plants that produce flowers and seeds go through a natural lifecycle that ends with setting seed. It takes energy and a living plant to produce seeds and that isn't fully completed until the flower is wilted on the stalk. Since Gerbera Daisies are cut at their peak beauty, the seeds aren't formed yet and never will be. Still, you can always buy some seeds and plant them!

Well, I guess my thoughts were right and THANK YOU for explaining that to me. I do plan on buying seeds and down here where I live it is almost time to think about where I will put seedlings when there ready for the ground. I I've had these cut ones in the vase for 6 days now and they are still gorgeous . Again, Thank you for your answer.
