do you know any more about it...is it a nursery hybrid, or native to?

It is native to Malaysia and is edible. From what I gathered it in fact has no taste, but the petals are ground down for it's colouring.

The name itself suggests its Malaysian Bunga Telang.I was havung this plant in my garden since long.Its also very tolerant to Sun and Even my sister who resides at Dubai Middle East has it flourishing in her garden.
