Note: Found this as part of a photo on the internet. I love the green flower but don't know what it is. Could it be a succulent?

I would agree.

I don't know which one but it's the Sempervivum family

Yes. If not a type of hens and chicks maybe a hybrid. I did a search and couldn't find one with rounded, flat leaves. Definitely a Sempervivum though.

Actually when I read up on sempervivums, they are described as having pointed leaves. What about Sedum? They are from the same family.

Yes, could be this one, Sedum_glaucophyllum

I was tossed up between glaucophyllum and spurium but am still hard pressed to find one as flat and compacted as this. If I had to make a choice though I would go with you and the guacophyllum.

I think its this succulent thats genus starts with Aeco... I can't remember the rest. The burgundy ones are popular now

Well I found a Sedum that is compact and flat as this one? The only problem is it is called Red carpet. Guess what colour it is? If it was green then I think we'd have it.

It looks exactly like the hens 'n chicks I have in my strawberry jar. The chicks are usually quite numerous as the plant ages.

Great! I was thrown by the fact that this plant has smooth and curved leaves. Like I said earlier I had read up on sempervivens and they were described as having pointed leaves. Do you know which type of Hens and Chicks you have? Like I said as well, this could even be a sempervivum hybrid. :)

Let me throw a wrench into the works. "Aeco" was almost correct. I think it's most definitely an "Aeonium" Check it out on Wiki at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeonium

Thanks for the wrench. I searched Aeonium (sometimes referred to as a sempervivum) and I think you are right. Now I just can't decide between Glandulosum or Canariense.?????
