Just a wild guess here, because I find the photo of the flowers hard to make out, cuckoo flower?

Is the plant in the photo growing in a garden or its a wild species.I hope it will help in deciding its name

My first thought was an orchid.
The arrangement of flowers on the foreground stem reminded me of a picture I took of a bee orchid

It looks like a white tradescantia:

Could be, but the petals on thid flower seem smoother and rounded. The Tradescantia seem flimsier and more uneven. There also seem to be more than three petals whereas this photo seem to have only three.

Hubby said it is in the lily family...Something about the "star of india" I looked at that flower and it doesn't look the same, but it does look like some type of lily that I have seen before.

Thought it may be a Libertia possibly grandiflora...
Jay on 6/3/2008 1:46:11 AM
You know what, I agree with with Jay completely that it is a Libertia. I saw photos of the stalk, leaves and, most importantly, the flowers and petals. I haven't seen anything
closer than this. I'm even going to go with Grandiflora. You have me sold Jay! I think you solved this one.
