Not sure from this picture, but it looks a bit like 0kra (Hibiscus esculentus) to me. A vegetable used in soups and stew. Sometimes called 'gumbo' or 'lady fingers'. Did it have an hibiscus-type flower before the seed pods arrived?

yes it does look like an okra, but the leaf and the vegetables attachment has thrown me, also the growth habit? can you post a picture of the vegetable cut in half? if i had to guess!!!! perhaps cucurbita? zucchini/marrow/squash family????. p
