I do believe it is a Salvia as well. These plants are also poisonous. The U.S. is talking about banning Salvia because it is being used by people to smoke and get high off of. Crazy! These plants are beautiful and I hope this doesn't happen. I wrote about it in the forum section a while ago.

I love the blue salvias especially.....but this is much more aggressive than those periennials.....I think it is an annual that reseeds.....in fact I planted it early last year.....and by winter it was coming up in everything.........pulled it out by the handfuls........and it got quite tall....I threw some different places that I wouldnt mind it coming up......but of course it didnt come up there.....came up this year in the middle of plants already established......argh!!!!!!!!!!!

Here in Australia we are encouraged to plant more drought tolerant species such as salvia!

They can't ban Salvia. Many Salvias are native to the US and Canada, and many have been used as a culinary herb for... thousands of years!!! If they banned every plant that could get you high or is poisonous, they'd be banning 3/4 of them.

I agree, but that's what the news report said. If you check my info under the general gardening forum, you'll see what I mean. Phempton had also added some info regarding it as well. People will always come up with a new way or plant to use to get high. I wish they'd just smarten up.
