I think it is a "corn plant." Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana'

I think so too. I got a bigger one from a funeral in 2004, and it looks great, but is bigger- they grow tree size in the tropics. I have it outside under a tree in dense shade for the summer. I only water it once the top of the soil is pretty dry; hardly ever give it plant food. In winter it only gets dim light from a North window- it would like stronger light but makes do. Keep it rather dry in the winter.

they will grow to the size of the container......bigger the pot the bigger the plant........... :) will tolerate long periods of no water pretty well.......
