It's also called Moss Rose. I think that it would be fun to name a little girl Portulaca...

they love sun....spread by dropping seed....reseed easily.....so plant it where you want it to grow.......because it will come back .........mine always does....it gets spindly toward end of summer.......you can cut it back some and it will regrow till frost.........of course in arizona you probably dont have to worry about that.......one of my favorite plants...good in containers also.........

I have a photo here under photos of a planter full of these. I never deadhead these and always have tons of flowers.

yes....they will deadhead themselves....I just noticed if I help them along a bit......I dont have to wait so long for new blooms again....I have several planters of them...and when I sit on the porch I pick them off...the others are planted out in the garden and they have periods of no blooms ........

It's funny, because when I go out to look at the garden, I have no intention of deadheading just looking, but then I see one that needs to be done, then anotherand pretty soon I'm deadheadinf everywhere. For some reason , though, this plant never catches my attention when it comes to deadheading, Don't know why. :)
