Annuals for nutrient poor soil

Annuals which thrive in nutrient poor soils are much the same as drought tolerant annuals. They have adapted to grow in harsh conditions where rain is infrequent and the soils tend to be sandy. These plants are a welcome option for gardeners living in hot dry climates like the Southwest. Annuals for these conditions tend to bloom prolifically in attempts to seed the next generation prefering quantity of seed over size.
